Specialists in the Identification Bureau conduct impression evidence examinations which consists of the comparison of shoe prints and tire tracks found at crime scenes to a suspect’s (known) shoes and tires.
Characteristics in the crime scene impression are compared against those of the submitted known shoe or tire to determine if it was the origin of the crime scene impression. The laboratory employs the most sophisticated and up-to-date technologies and current methodology to conduct these comparisons.
Requests for impression evidence comparisons are sent via FAX to 714-834-6430. If a rush examination is requested, contact an Identification Bureau supervisor at (714) 834-4510.
